Mats Hummers was sent off against RB Leipzig at the weekend, but the veteran German defender is available for Wednesday's game. Dortmund are without Emre Can, however, after he picked up his third yellow card of the group stage in the 3-1 win over Milan.

The hosts have several players skulking around the treatment room. Sebastien Haller (knee) and Felix Nmecha (hip) are not expected back until mid-January while Julian Ryerson will likely be out until February after suffering ligament damage. Edin Terzic will also have to do without teenagers Julien Duranville and Youssofa Moukoko until the new year.

Dortmund predicted lineup vs PSG (4-2-3-1): Kobel; Wolf, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Ozcan, Sabitzer; Reus, Brandt, Bynoe-Gittens; Fullkrug.

Ousmane Dembele misses out after picking up his third yellow card of the competition against Newcastle. The talented playmaker Lee Kang-in could replace the French winger.

Fabian Ruiz is a relatively new addition to PSG's injury list. The midfielder is out until the new year after dislocating his shoulder. However, Warren Zaire-Emery returned to the fold last weekend in the win over Nantes.

Goalkeepers Sergio Rico (head) and Keylor Navas (back) are still out of action while Nuno Mendes (hamstring) and Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles) ease their way back from lengthy absences.

PSG predicted lineup vs Borussia Dortmund

PSG predicted lineup vs Dortmund (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Skriniar, Marquinhos, Hernandez; Ugarte, Vitinha, Zaire-Emery; Lee, Kolo-Muani, Mbappe.

Dortmund may be through but don't expect them to take their foot off the gas on Wednesday. The Germans must avoid defeat to guarantee top spot and a theoretically kinder draw in the knockout rounds.

However, the hosts head into the contest having lost back-to-back games and they'll be without midfield powerhouse Can. PSG, who also have a big absentee in Dembele, proved to be a cut above in the reverse fixture, and they desperately need to make sure of their qualification here.

PSG have lost both their away games in the Champions League this season, but they could secure a huge three points in Dortmund to top Group F. Expect Kylian Mbappe to take a great contest by the scruff of the neck.

Paris Saint-Germain go to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday needing a win to be sure of a UEFA Champions League knockout phase berth. A draw could be enough for Luis Enrique's men, but a victory would not only confirm safe passage to the round of 16, but also top spot in Group F given the tightness of the German and French outfits to Newcastle United and Milan heading into the final day -- PSG, the Magpies and the Rossoneri all still have chances to go through. A draw would be enough for Dortmund to confirm first place but PSG's fate would depend upon the result between Newcastle and Milan in that case. Edin Terzic's side have not been in great December form with a DFB Pokal exit to Stuttgart as well as a Bundesliga loss to RB Leipzig and a draw with Bayer Leverkusen. PSG are on the up, though, now top of Ligue 1 having won their last eight consecutive games in the French topflight -- a round of 16 berth and possibly top spot in Group F potentially puts a very positive spin on where Les Parisiens are right now. A three-game losing streak away from Parc des Princes and no clean sheet since late 2020 suggests that this will be a huge challenge for PSG, but they have never lost four consecutive European games away from home.

Recent Form

Borussia Dortmund are on a losing streak - they have lost to RB Leipzig and Stuttgart in their previous 2 matches while PSG are on a winning streak - they have won Nantes and Le Havre in their previous 2 matches. Overall, Borussia Dortmund have won 10 of their last 20 matches, losing 5 and drawing 5, while PSG have won 13 of their last 19 matches, losing 3 and drawing 3.

Borussia Dortmund have won twice (1-3 against AC Milan on 29th of November and 4-2 against Borussia Monchengladbach on 25th of November), lost 3 times (2-3 against RB Leipzig on 9th of December, 2-0 against Stuttgart on 7th of December and 2-1 against Stuttgart on 11th of November) and drew once (1-1 against Bayer Leverkusen on 3rd of December) in their most recent 6 matches.

PSG have won 4 times (2-1 against Nantes on 10th of December, 0-2 against Le Havre on 3rd of December, 5-2 against Monaco on 25th of November and 0-3 against Reims on 11th of November), lost once (2-1 against AC Milan on 8th of November) and drew once (1-1 against Newcastle United on 29th of November) in their most recent 6 matches.

Prediction

PSG know the importance of finally executing a successful away performance in Europe this season and Luis Enrique has been warned regarding the risks of experimenting with so much at stake. The French champions should have enough to win here, especially considering Dortmund's midfield headache. Pick: Dortmund 1, PSG 2.
